The Loyola University Libraries are retiring Pegasus and WorldCat Local this summer and replacing them with a new system for search and discovery. We will keep this guide updated with all you'll need to know about the transition.

When will the new system be available?

It's now available! Visit http://searchlibraries.luc.edu/. WorldCat Local access is ending June 30, 2015, and Pegasus access is ending July 22, 2015.


What happens when Pegasus is replaced?

July 22, 2015 – Pegasus will be replaced by the new discovery system.  You should: use the new library discovery system at libraries.luc.edu to search for all library materials, including books, movies, and journal articles. Why are some ebooks not available?

Some ebook titles are not accessible currently. You will see a message that has an icon that reads EBL and a note saying "This book is not available". The problem should be resolved shortly. Visit this list to see all the EBL ebooks that are available.


Will overdue fees be different?

How will this affect classes during summer terms?

If your summer class ends before June 30, it won't affect you at all. For classes that go past that date we will be in touch directly with faculty to make sure they have specific instructions. How will I find material listed on course reserves once this change happens?

You will be able to search for all material on course reserves in the new system starting July 27th. However, you will also still be able to search in Pegasus until the end of the summer.

How can I explore and limit my search results?

Use the filters on the left side of the screen to limit your search. Results are sorted by relevance; use the drop-down box on the upper right to change this. Read a complete guide.


Can I search WorldCat with the new search tool?

Coming this fall it will be possible to search WorldCat within the new tool. For now, you can search in WorldCat directly.

How can I access material I find in the search?

Print and other physical items will have Get It button that will give you location and request options. Log in with your Loyola username and password to request. Online materials will have a View It button. Click on a link to view the material. If you are off campus you will need to log in with your Loyola username and password. Read a complete guide here.


What can I do in my library account?

Renew Loyola-owned material View Loyola-owned library material currently checked out on your account View pending requests for Loyola-owned library material (and if/when they are to be picked up) View and outstanding fines and fees attached to your library account View if any blocks have been placed on your library account


How will I log into my library account?

If you are a Loyola Student, Faculty or Staff member: log in using your Loyola username and password. If you are an Alum or patron from a reciprocal library: log in using your email address and your last name (all lower case).


What is this searching?

Will any services be interrupted during the transition period?

Most services should now be back to normal. Please see this page for how to request materials in the new system. If you need help, contact your circulation desk. Just a few. You will still be able to checkout books, as usual throughout the transition. However, between July 17th and July 22nd you will be unable to place requests for books via Pegasus.
